What are some good Naturopathic under-grad schools?
I really want to go to Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences. Which school(s) would be best to get an under graduate degree from?
To answer this question, I went to the AANMC, the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges. The colleges they list are all accredited through the U.S. Department of Education. Naturopathic programs are accredited through the CNME, the Council on Neuropathic Medical Education.
AANMC schools listed, in alphabetical order are the following; Bastyr University, Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine, Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, National College of Natural Medicine, Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, and University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine.
None of these are the best fit for everybody, so it is best to visit each of them to sit in on a class or two at each of them, and discuss your goals with a counselor.
Keep in mind that you can’t be licensed in all states for this profession, so you may have to move if you live in a state which does not license naturopathic physicians. Check the first site posted below for more information.
I wish you all the best in your career. There is a great need for this specialty, as medical doctors seem to opt for surgery or drugs only.
